Opal Patricia James, affectionately known as Grandma, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 in Davenport, Iowa on July 11, 2024. She was born on August 27, 1929 in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Earl and Annetta May Cox.

Opal was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, great-great grandmother. She is reunited in heaven with her husband Glen James (1996) and daughter Joyce Hullender (2016) who have preceded her in death. Opal is survived by her daughters Judy Linnabery, Joanna Saunders, Jackie Costales, Patricia Smith, and Cindy Rhodes, as well as her sons Fredrick Miller and Jeffery Miller.

Throughout her life, Opal enjoyed visiting flea markets and yard sales, always on the lookout for hidden treasures. Her love for hunting for new items to add to her collections brought her great joy and fulfillment.

Opal's greatest legacy lies in her large and loving family. She leaves behind a vast family tree that includes 34 grandchildren and over 20 great-grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren, all of whom brought endless joy and pride to her life.

Though she may be gone, Opal's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her kindness, wit, and unwavering love for her family will forever be cherished.

At this time, the family has not made arrangements for a service or memorial, but they ask for thoughts and prayers to honor Opal's memory.

Opal Patricia James will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly through the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. May she rest in peace.
