Jesse O. James, 69, of Coal Valley, Illinois, long-time Coal Valley Village Clerk, died Monday, September 17, 2007, in Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, with The Reverend Joel Parsons officiating. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Coal Valley Church of the Nazarene, where he was a member, or Oak Glen Home.
Jesse Oliver James was born April 7, 1938, in Pemiscot County, Missouri, the son of Jesse and Zetta (McCoy) James. He married Donna Perkins on April 27, 1963, in East Moline. He was a salesman for Trausch Baking Company, Moline, for 20 years, retiring in 1996. He previously worked at Bear Manufacturing and J. I. Case.

Jesse served as Coal Valley Village Clerk for many years. He was an avid golfer and loved his dog, Taber, and his cat, Tabitha.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Donna; daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Rick Janecek of Davenport, and Jill and Dennis Mundt of Geneseo; five grandchildren, Milburn McShane and his wife Becci, Andrew McShane and his fiancée Sarah Powell, Melissa McShane and her fiancé Richard Neyens, Katelyn Mundt, and Kimber Mundt; his twin sister, Joan Hartsock and her husband Leonard of Spencer, Nebraska; and his brother, McCoy James and his wife Betty of Springfield, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill James.
