Nona I. Moran Coal Valley, Illinois Services for Nona I. Moran, 77, of Coal Valley, are 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, and 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. Coal Valley. The Reverend Richard Bresnahan will officiate. Entombment is in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, where a Wake Service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the church. Mrs. Moran died Tuesday, February 13, 2001, in Illini Hospital, Silvis. The former Nona Iru Johnson was born February 10, 1924, in Lewistown, Illinois, the daughter of Earl and Florence (Jarnigan) Johnson. She married James Moran on December 22, 1950, in Rock Island. She was Police Matron and Crossing Guard for the Village of Coal Valley for 15 years, and previously worked at Naibi Zoo and The Rock Island Argus. She was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Coal Valley, where she was past president of the Ladies Guild and taught Catechism for several years, and was past president of the Coal Valley Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed sewing and knitting for her family. Nona is survived by her husband, James; seven children and their spouses, Elbert and Nancy Baker of Glenwood, Illinois, Joyce and Ron Flynn of Viola, Illinois, Kay and Gaylen Harris of Mesquite, Texas, Janet Moran of Springfield, Illinois, Mary and Bill Albracht of Fairfax, Virginia, Debbie and John Ketner of Moline, and Jimmy Moran of Rock Island; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, and six brothers and sisters.
