Nicole B. Miller Smith, 34, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Monday, March 2, 2015, in her home, after bravely battling stage four cancer for 14 months.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2015, at First Congregational Church, Moline, with The Reverend Craig Jan-McMahon officiating. Visitation with Nicole's family will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. both Friday and Saturday in the Horizon Room on the upper level of Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. After greeting her family, friends are invited to gather in CityView Celebrations on the lower level of Trimble Pointe to celebrate Nicole's life. Memorials may be made the Nicole Smith Memorial Fund for her children's education.
The former Nicole Briana Miller was born June 3, 1980, in Dubuque, Iowa, to The Rev. Dr. Robert Walter and Laura Lee (Hammerstrom) Miller. She graduated from Moline High School in 1998, and attended Western Illinois University. She married her high school sweetheart Joshua Mark Smith on October 4, 2003, at First Congregational Church in Moline. She was a paraprofessional for the Moline School District at Bicentennial School in Coal Valley.
Nicole was an active member of First Congregational Church, Moline, where she taught Sunday school and gave children's sermons. She was past president of the Bicentennial School PTA, was a member of the Tri-City Motorcycle Club, enjoyed boating, photography and scrapbooking, and loved spending time with her family and all of her many friends.
Nicole is survived by her husband, Josh; two children, Mackenzie and Cameron; her parents, Laura and Bob Miller of Moline; siblings and their spouses, Courtney Miller of Moline, Michael and Andrea Miller of Davenport, Iowa, Ann and Mark Albin of Loveland, Ohio, and Peter and Jenny Miller of Indianapolis, Indiana; Josh's parents, Deb and Mike Smith of Moline; and Josh's brothers and sisters-in-law, Jon and Jeannette Smith of Hampton, Illinois, Justin and Ro Smith of Ozark, Missouri, and Jason Smith of Moline.
Nicole will be remembered for her contagious smile and being an inspiration to all who knew her. Her family invites friends to share stories and condolences and light a free candle in her memory at www.TrimbleFuneralHomes.com.
