Nicky J. Cocquit

Nicky Cocquit, 49, of Colona, Illinois, died Saturday, October 24, 2020, at St. Anthony’s Medical Center, Rockford, Illinois.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home.

Nicky James Coquit was born April 8, 1971, in Moline, the son of Susan Porter and Greg Cocquit. He graduated from UTHS in East Moline. He worked for Vonachen, John Deere, Respect Abilities, and the East Moline Downtown Business Assocation. Previously, he had worked for 20 years at the Isle of Capri.

Nick was very active in horseshoes and bags with the Colona Horseshoe Club, Moline Indoor Bags, and 4 City Cornole. He also had a love for Nascar and dirt track racing.

He is survived by his parents, Sue and Joe Carroll, and Greg and Marilyn Cocquit; siblings, Karrie (Lyle) Higgins, Jessie Raley, and Chad Olsen; his grandfather, Ben Schumm; three nieces and a nephew; and special friends, Gary and Ryan, and everyone involved in Respect Abilities. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Carroll and Greg Cocquit, Jr., and his grandparents.
