Nellie Johnson

Nellie Dean Smith Johnson, age 87, of Sulligent, Alabama, formerly of Moline, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Generations of Vernon in Vernon, Alabama. Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Sulligent. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, is assisting with local arrangements.

Nellie was born on August 18, 1933, in Sulligent to the late Willie Smith and the late Pauline South. She attended Sulligent Schools, and married Richard Johnson, who preceded her in death. Nellie previously worked as a beautician in Moline for many years.

She is survived by her son, Terry Garrison of Sulligent; her sister, Stella Karr of Trussville, Alabama; and a grandchild, Chelsea Cordes. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Shelby Windisch; and siblings, Billy Wayne Smith, Joe Smith, and Jearline Wright.
