Necia L. Ries, 72, of Bettendorf, Iowa, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
A private celebration of Necia’s life will be held. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline, is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
The former Necia Lynn Scott was born December 20, 1948, in Kirksville, Missouri, the daughter of Thomas R. Sr. and Bobbie C. (Robinson) Scott. She married John A. “Jack” Ries, Jr. on October 21, 1967, in Moline. He died July 24, 2005.
She worked as a telephone operator, for the Silvis Public Library, and was a self-employed decorator. She was an avid gardener and a culinary artist who loved cooking. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Necia, especially her beloved grandchildren.
Necia is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Karrie and Joseph Powers of Davenport, and Kathy and Cary David of Atlanta, Georgia; four grandchildren, Isabella Holland of Madison, Wisconsin, Jacob Holland of Iowa City, Ella David of Iowa City, and Ries David of Atlanta; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas “Scottie” (Ora) Scott, Jr. of Moline, and Phillip (Sharon) Scott of Knoxville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jack.
