Nancy A. Nice

Nancy A. Nice, 84, of Aledo, Illinois, formerly of Sherrard, Illinois, died Monday, May 23, 2016, in Genesis Senior Living, Aledo.

Services are 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 29, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory following the service, and burial will be in Sherrard Cemetery. A luncheon in CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe will follow the funeral. Memorials may be made to Nourish to Flourish or Sherrard Public Library.

Nancy Anne Harder was born March 9, 1932, in Rock Island, Illinois, to Warren and Margaret (Mueller) Harder. She married Virgil Edward Nice on December 16, 1950, in Rock Island. He died April 15, 2016. She was a nurse's aide at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley for 15 years, and previously worked at Melvin's Pie Shop, Rock Island. She was a member of New Windsor Presbyterian Church and Sherrard Library Book Club, loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, cards, and learning. She was famous for her pies.

Nancy is survived by seven children and their spouses, Polly and David Timberlake of St. Joseph, Missouri, Lee and Kris Nice of Sherrard, Mary and John Hergert of New Boston, Illinois, Annette and Weldon Sippel of Ocala, Florida, Sally Salmon and Mike Zehr of Sherrard, Mark and Sandy Nice of Preemption, and Tobbi White of Onyx, California; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lura Harkey and her husband Gene of Aledo, Jane Williams of Aledo, and Margaret Schollmyer of Dubuque, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil; sisters, Arvalie Hall, Ruth Mary Wilson, and Lynn Carol (Jo) Grohman and a brother, Wayne Douglas Harder.
