Muriel L. Sackfield, 95, formerly of Rock Island, Illinois, died Monday, August 12, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis, Illinois.
Celebration of Life services are 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 31, at Community of Christ Church, 1525 48th Street Place, Moline, Illinois. Her body was donated to the University of Iowa for medical research. Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline, is assisting the family.
The former Muriel LaJune Lenox was born February 19, 1929, in Lincoln, Nebraska, the daughter of Ervin James “E.J.” and Sylvia Izro (Buroker) Lenox. She married Richard L. Sackfield on March 31, 1947, in Moline. He died August 30, 1998.
Muriel worked as a secretary for Moline Forge, Inc. for over 22 years, retiring in 1991. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, reading, and collecting Precious Moments figurines. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Muriel, especially her beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many dogs over the years.
Muriel is survived by two sons, Hal (Jolene) Sackfield of Muscatine, Iowa, and Jeffrey (Jeanne) Sackfield of Silvis, Illinois; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; two sons, Kent and Dana Sackfield; and brothers, Merlin, Wayne and Buren Lenox.
