Edith Morehouse Maxey, 94, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, in Blue Ridge Living Center, Easley, South Carolina.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2007, in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with The Reverend Adrian Rosa officiating. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Bible Missionary Institute, 3501 46th Avenue, Rock Island, Illinois 61201.
The former Edith Louise Morehouse was born January 25, 1913, in Emmett, Idaho, the daughter of Clarence and Sylvia (Hopper) Morehouse. She married The Reverend Irl Parker Maxey on May 30, 1940, in Nampa, Idaho. He died May 12, 1998.
Edith was assistant nursing director at the former Franciscan Medical Center, Rock Island, and also taught at the Bible Missionary Institute. In addition to her nursing and teaching, she traveled extensively with her husband in the United States and abroad in the interest of the church and Christian education.
Edith is survived by five children and their spouses, Rev. Ross and Dona Maxey of Cabot, Arkansas, Rev. Gary and Emma Lou Maxey of Nigeria, Africa, Rev. Lee and Sandy Maxey of Snohomish, Washington, Paul and Peggy Maxey of Racine, Wisconsin, and Keren Ibebunjo of Easley, South Carolina; ten grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and son, Bruce Alan Maxey.
