Milton “Doc” Meyer, 92, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at River Crossing of Moline.
Services are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. Burial will follow at Coal Valley Cemetery.
Milton Edward Meyer was born March 26, 1929, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Charles and Lydia Meyer. As a child, the family moved to Palmyra, Missouri. He married Loretta Goffe on January 2, 1956, in Bettendorf, Iowa.
He was a country western musician, playing on tv in 1952-1953. He later formed his own band, “Doc and the Deacons”. He played for many benefits in the Quad Cities area and around. He also made and produced records. He loved camping and took many trips in the Black Hills of South Dakota. He retired from John Deere Harvester after 23 years in 1989.
Survivors include his wife of over 65 years, Loretta; a daughter, Karen; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Eula Mae and Russell Bloomer; a son, Keith Meyer; a daughter, Kay Condon; and a half-brother, Randy.
