Mildred Elizabeth Karstens

Services for Mildred "Millie" Karstens, 91 of East Moline will be 2:00 PM, Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, with the Reverend George Loveland of Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, Moline officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Monday, prior to the service. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Memorials may be given to Bethel Wesley UMC Church or to Aspenwood Health Care Center. Miss Karstens died Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at Aspenwood Health Care Center in Silvis, Illinois. Mildred Elizabeth Karstens was born November 28, 1910 in Moline, Illinois the daughter of Frank and Ellen (Newberg) Karstens. Miss Karstens retired from L.R. Christiansen Co. as a Secretary in 1962 after 17 years of employment. She previously was employed at the Moline Iron Works for 27 years. Miss Karstens was a member of Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church in Moline, where she was involved in the Naomi Circle and the United Methodist Women. Member of the Pilot Club for 25 years, former Gamma Nu chapter Sigma Phi Gamma International and the Modern Literature Club. She was also an avid reader. Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Margaret Karstens; along with several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Marianne Whitmer of East Moline. A sister, Lucille Reimers, and a brother, John Karstens, preceded her in death. END OF OBITUARY
