Mildred Adele Dahm was born on January 16, 1921 in Durant, Iowa. She was the youngest of eight children born to Ed and Annie Keppy Westphal and the last surviving member of the Durant High School Class of 1938. She was married that same year to Albert George Baxter of Durant and had four sons with him. The marriage ended in divorce. She later married Norbert Theodore Dahm of Quincy, Illinois, in 1954. He died in 1986.
Millie was active in community theatre and a pioneer in children's television. In the early 1950's she hosted a weekly, live television show in Quincy called "Aunt Millie's Playhouse Party Time" which featured puppets, live animals and birthday cake. Over the next thirty years, she held various sales positions in Rock Island, Illinois and the Saint Louis area, and eventually developed her own interior decorating business.
Millie loved life. She was "Auntie Mame" personified and thoroughly enjoyed traveling, theater, art, music, cooking, reading, writing and spending time with family and friends. She had a keen sense of humor and, even to the end, tried to brighten other peoples' days.
She is survived by sons Steven Baxter and his wife Ruth of Parker, Colorado, and Thomas Baxter of San Pablo, California; grandson Timothy Baxter and his wife Amy of Centennial, Colorado; granddaughter Christina Baxter Critchell and her husband Taylor of Denver, Colorado; four great grandsons, two great granddaughters and her dearly beloved Samuel Vasquez of Moline, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, all her brothers and sisters, both husbands and her sons Ronald Eugene and Michael Jon.
Millie's family invites friends to share stories and condolences and light a candle in her memory at www.TrimbleFuneralHomes.com.
