Michael M. Berry, Sr., 81, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Monday, June 14, 2021, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.

Services to celebrate Mike’s life will be held Friday, June 18, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, beginning with visitation from 4:00 to 6:45 p.m. immediately followed by a time of sharing for family and friends at 6:45 p.m. Following services, cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Mike’s memory.

Michael Morris Berry was born October 2, 1939, in Matherville, Illinois, the son of Claude and Margaret (Tomilson) Berry. He married Joyce Prescott on November 4, 1959, in Rock Island. He was a lifelong trucker with over 2,000,000 miles under his belt.

He loved cars, trucks, tractors, and dogs and cats of all kinds. Above all else, family was the most important thing to him.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife of over 61 years, Joyce; a son, Richard Berry of Colona, Illinois; a daughter and son-in-law, Michele (Tim) Pyrtle of College Station, Texas; grandchildren, Leesa Monson, Matt Monson, Elizabeth Murray, Kaitlin Diaz, Courtney Berry, Austin Pyrtle, Pat Berry, Dale Berry, Jeremy Gross, Nick Gross, Allison Magana, Chris Berry, Chantel Frankville, Misty Munson, Justin Berry, Jason Hajny, and Jolee Hajny; friends, T.J., Jolly John Carothers, Barb Bernauer, and Debbie Bernauer; sons-in-law, Dave Hajny of East Moline, and David Hills of Tennessee; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; five children, Kim Hills, Cindy Smith, Debbi Hajny, Jeff Berry, and Michael M. Berry, Jr.; a grandson, Michael Monson; and two sisters, Veronica “Sue” Berry and Mary Schwartzkopf.
