Michael S. Harris, 80, of East Moline, Illinois, died Monday, October 7, 2024, at Hope Creek Nursing and Rehab, East Moline.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, at First Southern Baptist Church, Colona, with Rev. Bob Stockland and Rev. Bill Rossow officiating. Visitation is 9:00 a.m. until time of services. Cremation will take place prior to services at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the church or Quad City Animal Welfare Center.
Michael Stephen Harris was born December 21, 1943, in Jacksonville, Illinois, the son of Olof and Blanche (Westrope) Harris. He married the love of his life, Lola Johnson, on December 5, 1970, in Jacksonville.
Mike worked in maintenance for several dealerships including Price Motors in Sterling, Illinois, and for the Fulton School District, Fulton, Illinois. He also worked in armed security at the Cordova Power Plant.
He was an active member of First Southern Baptist Church, Colona. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, writing poetry, singing and dancing, and playing board games. He was also a football fan, especially of the Chicago Bears. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Mike.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of nearly 54 years, Lola Harris; his children, Lisa Vranizan of Waynesville, North Carolina, Mark Moorcraft of Little Rock, Arkansas, Sally (Ken) McDonald of Tampa, Florida, Scott Harris of Seattle, Washington, and Sarah (Josh) DePover of Colona; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and his grand dog, Baxter. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Brenda Hettinger; and his grand dog, Maggie.
