Michael E. Walsh, 68, of Sherrard, Illinois, died Wednesday, February 25, 2015, in his home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Michael Eugene Walsh was born January 30, 1947, in Burlington, Iowa, to William and Hazel Bernadine Baker Walsh. He served in the U. S. Army in Vietnam, and married Linda Harkless on May 2, 1969, in Rock Island. She died September 13, 1995. He was a millwright and construction worker for Local 2158 for 30 years, retiring in 2002. He was a former member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan, and the VFW, and a member of the Edwards River Antique Engine Association. He loved restoring old engines and showing them all over the area. He enjoyed electronics and all types of motor sports, and was involved in street class dirt racing for several years. He was a continuous, active member of AA for over 23 years.
Mike is survived by his mother, Bernadine Walsh of Rock Island; four sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Traci Walsh, Bob and Dawn Walsh, and Jeff and Vicki Walsh, all of Sherrard, and Matt and Marlena Walsh of New Windsor, Illinois; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Patricia Walsh and Linda Walsh, both of Rock Island. He was preceded in death by his wife, his father, and his brother, Tom Walsh.
