James E. Masengarb, 64, of Moline, Illinois, formerly of Lynn Center, Illinois, died Saturday, November 19, 2011, in his home.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, with The Reverend Jim DeBisschop officiating. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the VA Clinic in Bettendorf, Iowa.
James Edwin Masengarb was born September 18, 1947, in Moline, the son of Wiman Lee and Sarah Lois (Brown) Masengarb. He served in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War.
He owned and operated JEMS Auto Care in Moline, and then East Moline, for over 24 years, retiring in 2010. He enjoyed boating, shooting, and driving his corvette.
Jim is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Tina and Jay Jennings of Moline, and Anita Orwig of East Peoria, Illinois; five grandchildren, one great-grandson, a special friend, Brooke Calhoun; brothers and a sister-in-law, Thomas and Sally Masengarb of Granbury, Texas, and Jeffrey Masengarb of Davenport, Iowa; and a sister, Susan Karwath of Bettendorf. He was preceded in death his parents, and brothers, Mark Masengarb and Steve Masengarb.
