Jerome Anthony ?JT? Thomas II, 29, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 9, 2011, after a stoic battle with cancer.
Services are 6 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, 1101 4th Street, Orion, Illinois, with Pastor Larry Wiese officiating. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, 601 21st Street, Moline, where a time of sharing will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday. A memorial fund will be established in his name.
JT was born August 13, 1981, at Eglin Air Force Base, Fort Walton Beach, Florida, the son of Jerome Anthony and Catherine Ann (Wilkinson) Thomas. He graduated from Orion High School through Blackhawk Area Special Education.
As a child of God, he had a simple faith that was large enough to move mountains. He loved his dog, Shiloh, babies, animals, and sunsets, and enjoyed video games, the Chicago Cubs, anime books and photography.
JT is survived by his parents, Cathy and Jerry Thomas of Coal Valley; siblings, Broch Thomas and his wife Anna of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, Jared Thomas of Davenport, and Janice Thomas of Coal Valley; a niece and nephew, Lyla and Desmond Thomas of Fond Du Lac; and his maternal grandfather, Melvin T. Wilkinson Jr. of Sweetwater, Texas. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Peggy Wilkinson, and Joy and John Thomas.
His family extends special appreciation to the medical professionals who participated in his care, including Dr. Hata, his staff, and Bay 1 SICU at Iowa City, and nurses Emily Huggins and Cathy Ryckeghem at Trinity Rock Island.
