Maudie L. Whitson

Maudie L. Whitson, 89, of Davenport, Iowa, died Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Graveside services are 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 6, at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, at 10:15 a.m.

The former Maudie Louisa Collier was born July 15, 1926, in Davenport, the daughter of Jess Sr. and Nora (Dyer) Collier. She married Theodore Whitson on July 22, 1943, in Lancaster, Missouri. He died in 1995.

She enjoyed playing bingo, plastic crafts, and collected cardinals. She loved vacationing with her husband, and spending winters in Texas.

Maudie is survived by three children, Sandra Thompson of Moline, Joe and Wendi Whitson of Milan, and Ted Whitson of Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Collier of Davenport, and Lillian Elzie of California; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; and siblings, Jess Collier, Jr., Bill Collier, Sadie DeLay, and Freda Anderson.
