The former Matilda Theresa Contreas was born on March 14, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Mario and Mercedes Cervantes Contreras. She married Oscar Acosta and later married Grady William Moncure, who preceded her in death.
Terry was a department supervisor for Spiegal Stores and later became a home maker. She was proud of her Chicago roots, enjoyed watching the Cubs baseball team and spent much of her free time quilting and making decorative dolls. During her later years she moved to Rock Island, Illinois and resided at Friendship Manor. It was during this period of her life that she grew close to her grandsons, especially Victor, who would visit her and bring her most favorite meals.
Those left to honor her memory are her children and spouses, Allen and Rose Acosta of Portage, Indiana, and Linda and Arled Izquierdo of Rock Island; grandchildren and their spouses, Allen Jr. and Cecelia Acosta, Aimee and Rick Nuñez, Alex Acosta, David and Amanda Izquierdo, Victor and Shannon Izquierdo, and Marc and Mikhenan Izquierdo; eight great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Lucille Morales; and several nieces and nephews.
Terry's family extends a special thank you to Dr. Acosta, Dr. Pareigis and the nurses and staff at Friendship Manor who provided such loving and nurturing care. Remembrances and condolences may be shared with the family at www.TrimbleFuneralHomes.com.
