Mason Gregory Thompson

Mason Gregory Thompson, 26, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, September 2, 2024.

A casual gathering to celebrate Mason’s life will be 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 8, at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Mason’s memory.

Mason was born on July 3, 1998, in Rock Island, Illinois, the cherished son of Gregory and Tiffany (Fitch) Thompson. He graduated from Moline High School in 2016 and proudly continued the family tradition by working in manufacturing, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.

Mason had a heart of gold, making sure everyone around him was happy. His warm and welcoming nature meant he never met a stranger—he made friends effortlessly. Known for giving the best hugs, Mason’s loud, infectious (and obnoxious) laugh could light up any room.

A passionate sports fan, Mason especially loved basketball and was an avid music lover. Above all, his family was his greatest treasure, and he held his loved ones close, including the love of his life, Olivia Williams.

Mason is survived by his beloved parents, Gregory (Marci Dinneweth) Thompson of East Moline, and Tiffany (Tom Ohlsen) Thompson of Sebring, Florida; his brother, Alex Adkins of Iowa City; his sister, Tessa Thompson of Moline; his bonus brother, Cade Dinneweth; a niece, Emilia; grandparents, Tom and Carol Thompson of Moline, Adrianne Valentine of Sebring, and Ron Fitch of Port Byron; his girlfiend, Olivia Williams; bonus mom, Gina Malone of Rock Island, and her children who were like sisters to Mason, Maya Saucedo and Molly Moravetz; another bonus mom, Andrea Moffitt of Davenport, and her son, Alex Baraks; his two dogs, Prince and Paisley; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Brian Valentine.
