Mary Lou Schwartz, 85, of East Moline, Illinois, died Sunday, January 7, 2024, at home.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Lou’s memory.
Mary Lou Waldman was born September 24, 1938, in Moline, the daughter of Walter and Katherine (Johnson) Waldman. She married William Schwartz, Jr. on December 29, 1962, in Moline. He died February 24, 2014.
Lou earned her nursing degree from Michael Reese School of Nursing in Chicago. She worked for Medical Arts for 13 years. She also worked at Moline Public Hospital, Augustana College, Trinity Express Care, and Dr. Walner’s office.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline, and many nursing organizations over the years. She enjoyed reading, gardening and collecting teddy bears. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Lou.
Lou is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Katherine Schwartz-Salinas and Edwar Salinas of East Moline; two grandsons, Jacob Schwartz and Justin Tallman; her sister, Patricia Spiegel of East Moline; son-in-law, Charley Smith; brother-in-law, Paul Schwartz; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; daughter, Susan Smith; and brother-in-law, James Spiegel.
