Mary Lou Rollason, 75, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Sunday, May 16, 2021, at home, surrounded by her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial is {time} Friday at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Coal Valley, with Father Anthony Ego officiating. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. The family encourages friends to dress casually for services, as that is what Mary would have wanted. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
The former Mary Lou Vavrosky was born June 25, 1945, in Pisek, North Dakota, the daughter of William and Mary (Sedivy) Vavrosky. She married Thomas Rollason on June 5, 1971, in Milan, Illinois. He died April 16, 1990. She worked in the gift shop at the Quad Cities Airport for 27 years.
She enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, and slots, going fishing, and gardening. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Mary, especially her grandsons.
Mary will be remembered as a selfless and giving woman who would do anything for someone in need.
Mary is survived by her son, James Rollason of Davenport, Iowa; three grandsons, Cole Griffin, Thomas Rollason, and Briar Rollason; siblings, Ramona Kelly of Georgia, Barb Scott of Coal Valley, Joe (Marguerite) Vavrosky of Milan, and Mike Vavrosky of Viola, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Rolland, William and Paul Vavrosky.
The family would like to give special thanks to Heartland Hospice and her special niece, Debbie Kelly, for the wonderful care given to Mary.
