Mary L. Myers

Mary L. Myers, 86, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Thursday morning, May 14, 2015, shortly after arrival at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.

Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, 1700 1st Street, Coal Valley, with The Reverend Tim Snart officiating. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley.

The former Mary Lena Freeborn was born March 29, 1929, in Bristol, Tennessee, to Edgar and Bessie (Cook) Freeborn. She married Herbert Myers on December 20, 1952, in Washington, D.C. He died January 31, 1997. She was employed in sampling and public relations for Chick-Fil-A for 13 years, and had also been an Air Force Secretary in Washington D.C., a Coal Valley Crossing Guard, and an EMT with the Coal Valley Volunteer Ambulance.. She was a member of the 500 Card Club and Valley Girls Investment Club, and loved Harleys. She was a very generous and caring neighbor, friend, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Mary is survived by four children and their spouses, Vince M. Myers of Austin, Texas, Debra and Steven Zerbst of Volo, Illinois, Roger and Sherri Myers of Bolingbrook, Illinois, and Barbara Myers of Coal Valley; five grandchildren and spouses, Hannah Myers, Andrew VanWinkle, Timothy and Duong Wagner, Megan and Caleb Hunt, and Rachel Myers; seven great-grandchildren; and her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Dody Freeborn of Salem, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Milton and John David Freeborn.
