Mary Jane Crouch, 91, of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, in Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport, Iowa, after a brief illness.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Moline, with The Reverends Deb and Flint Miller officiating. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church or American Cancer Society.
The former Mary Jane Skalsky was born October 20, 1921, in Marston, Missouri, the daughter of William Albert and Estella Sloas Skalsky. She graduated from Moline High School in 1939, and from Brown?s Business College. She married William V. Crouch on December 25, 1941, in St. Louis, Missouri. He died June 7, 1997. She had been a bookkeeper at Shetter-Fude Furniture, Moline Memorial Park, and Crouch Construction.
Jane was a 75 year member of First Baptist Church, Moline, where she was president of Homebuilders Sunday School Class, a circle leader, a member of the bible study group. She was the founder of ?Styles to Share? fashion show featuring dresses which were then donated to charity, and because of her love of music, she donated robes for the children?s choir.
In high school, she was captain of the girls basketball team and president of the girls athletic association. She served several terms as president of Roosevelt School PTA, was a Brownie and Cub Scout leader, and a member of Moline Lady Elks. She and her husband loved square dancing and danced on a show on WOC. They travelled coast to coast in their motor home and loved their cabin on Crescent Lake in Alpha, Illinois.
Jane is survived by three children and their spouses, Ronald and Linda Crouch, Gregory and Sylvia Crouch, and Pamela Crouch and Chris Zayner, all of Moline; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Matthew and Kenlyn Crouch, Andrea and Brian DeLille, Brian and Deidre Crouch, Giovani and Christy Crouch, Melissa Crouch, Bob and Jamie Crouch, William Scott, and Rachel Scott; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Deborah Lynn Crouch, brothers, Austin and Harry Skalsky, and sisters, Rachel Moeller, Eva Kleinsorge, Winifred Fish, Belle Stockberger, and Augusta Brower.
