Mary Lucille "Lucy" Jahns

Mary Lucille "Lucy" Jahns, 72, of Colona, Illinois, was called Home by her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 23, 2024.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 2nd, 2025, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4107 21st Avenue, Moline, Illinois with Rev. Gary Wright officiating. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Private burial is in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.

The former Mary Lucille Armes was born May 31, 1952 in Normal, to Melvin and Margaret (Richert) Armes. She graduated from Moline High School in 1970. She and her husband, Robert, "Bob" were married on August 4, 1974 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on August 18, 2023. Their son, Gary, was born in 1981.

Lucy retired from the Silvis Library after working as a librarian for many years. After retiring, she continued to read as many books as she could, favoring her audio books. Lucy served as the church secretary at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Colona, until it closed. She was well known for her love and knowledge of dogs. Much of her adult life she volunteered her time teaching, training and showing dogs for the Rock Island County 4H Club. She also helped with Illinois State Fair, Dog Division. She enjoyed traveling to visit friends and family and hosting summer pool parties. 

Lucy is survived by her son, Gary; brother Mike (Melanie); sisters-in-law; Teresa Armes, Martha (Jim), Diane and Laura; nieces and nephews, Tony, Lisa (Devin), Aaron, Angela (David) and Sarah (Baron), Eric (Amy), Alan (Bridget), Jenna (Jonathan), Sam, Ian; five great-nieces, eight great-nephews and close friend Mary Jo. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Les a great-nephew and close friend Lea.
