Mary E. Workheiser, 95, of Milan, Illinois, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014, in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Private entombment is in Rock Island Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
The former Mary Elizabeth Strickland was born February 28, 1919, in Rock Island, to Thomas J. and Nina Bowman Strickland. She married Stewart George Workheiser on May 24, 1936, in Rock Island. He died April 3, 2008. She had been a realtor and broker for the Mel Foster and Cornelis Agencies. She enjoyed ceramics and interior decorating.
Mary is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Nina Jean and Lawrence Hart of Milan, and Janet Allen of Escondido, California; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Deborah and Patrick Cram, Jeffrey and June Hart, Karen and James Jager Jr., Thomas and Julie Allen, Paula and Jessie Walker, Tim Allen, and John Allen; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Phipps of Corvallis, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her husband, a grandson, Billy Allen, and three brothers.
