Mary worked a variety of jobs, beginning as a teenager at the Rock Island Arsenal during World War II, summers at a Greenbush, Michigan, resort, and Desaulniers. She was a telephone operator with Illinois Bell and later worked the switchboard at Sears. She worked retail at Montgomery Ward, The New York Store, and Kresge. As a mother, she was active in the Girl Scouts and PTA. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and her yard. The greatest joy of her life was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Those who knew Mary will remember her strength and perseverance.

She was preceded in death by siblings Marceline Hundley and Herb Mullins.
