Mary D. McDowell, 50, of Moline, Illinois, died Sunday, May 16, 2021, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.
A homegoing celebration in Mary’s honor will be announced in the near future. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home.
Mary Deloris McDowell was born March 23, 1971, in Moline, the daughter of Rev. Wilbert and Mary (Bogan) McDowell Sr. She was a cashier for several area retail establishments including Walgreens and K-Mart. She also worked for Moline Forge and as a housekeeper.
She enjoyed listening to Country and Rock & Roll music and collecting things like hearts and teddy bears. She also enjoyed things outdoors like riding her bike, being by the river, and her flowers and plants. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Mary, especially her beloved grandchildren.
Mary is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Deloris McDowell and Arrian Kilgore of East Moline; her son, Keegan Hampton of Moline; grandchildren, Elijah and Elayah Kilgore; brothers, Wilbert “Bo” (Teri) McDowell of Moline, and Michael McDowell of Columbia, Missouri; nieces and nephews, Preston McDowell of Moline, Tasha Brown of California, Michelle McDowell of Moline, Johnnie Shaffer III stationed in Italy, and Jessica Keith of Moline; and many close friends including Lupe, Vicky and the Ashby families. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, John “Denny” McDowell, James “Danny” McDowell, and Jessie “Fay” McDowell.
