Mary D. “Barbee” Beintema, 82, of Coal Valley, Illinois, formerly of Davenport, Iowa, died Thursday, January 8, 2009, in Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley.
Mary had donated her body to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program. Private family services will be held at a later date, with burial in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Oak Glen Home or CASI. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, is entrusted with arrangements.
Mary Dolores Barbee was born February 17, 1926, in Rock Island, Illinois, the daughter of Homer and Eunice (Cochran) Barbee. She married John Beintema on February 11, 1948, in Rock Island. He died April 28, 1988.
She was a member of Memorial Christian Church, Rock Island, and loved dancing at CASI and celebrating her birthday every year with her special friends. She loved her family and friends, and would always tell them she was ”glad you got to see me!”
Barbee is survived by three children and their spouses, John and Nola Beintema of Bloomington, Minnesota, Melanie Hicks and her close friend Bob of East Moline, and Allison and Craig White of Milan, Illinois; five grandchildren, Aaron, Hannah, Leesa, Evan, and Abbie; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her sister, Jackie Rudd, and her brother, Richard Barbee.
