Mary Ann Mitchell, 91, of Hollywood, Florida, formerly of Moline, Illinois, and East Moline, Illinois, died Monday, March 10, 2014, in Lauderhill, Florida.
Graveside services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, is assisting the family.
The former Mary Ann Schmoll was born September 30, 1922, in Geneseo, Illinois, the daughter of Glenn and Ellen (Nero) Schmoll. She married Harry Mitchell on March 6, 1952, in Hollywood, Florida. He died December 29, 1984.
Mary Ann and her husband owned and operated Deri-Delite, an ice-cream shoppe in West Virginia. She later worked as a hairdresser at Ratcliffe Beauty Salon in Moline and ran a beauty supply store in Hollywood, Florida.
She was a member of the National Hairdressers Association, Zal Caldron No. 4 Daughters of Mokanna, and taught classes at the Senior Center in Hollywood, Florida. She enjoyed crafts, flower gardening, and crocheting.
Mary Ann is survived by a brother, Glenn Schmoll; nieces, Carol Black of Davenport, Iowa, Merry Shick of Moline, and Julie (Robert) Rowe of Moline; a nephew, Glenn (Diane) Schmoll of St. Louis, Missouri; and great-nieces and nephews, Darrell and Dennis (Sandy) Edmonds, Shelley, Scott, and Josh (Carey) Shick, Elliott and Neil (Michelle) Rowe, Glenn and Margaret Schmoll. She was preceded in death by her husband, and a sister, Phyllis Morey.
