Mary Ann Martorano

Mary Ann Martorano, 88, of Coal Valley, Illinois, formerly of Three Rivers, California, died Monday, December 3, 2018, at home.

A memorial mass will be 5:00 p.m. Monday, December 10, at Mary, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Orion, immediately followed by a meal. Visitation will begin with a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and continue until time of service. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Retreat Center, 43816 Sierra Dr., Three Rivers, CA 93271, where she volunteered for many years.

She was born February 21, 1930, in Los Angeles, California, to Albert T. Sr. and Mary (Ottaviano) Otis. She married Alfred Martorano on August 25, 1951, in Los Angeles. He died March 20, 2010.

Mary Ann sang in church choirs and was a member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church in Los Angeles, St. Clair's Catholic Mission in Three Rivers, and then St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Coal Valley and Mary, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Orion.

She was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, quilting (she was a master quilter), and all types of crafts. She also loved gardening, reading, and her pets.

Mary Ann is survived by ten children and their spouses, Frank (Faith) Martorano of Wyckoff, New Jersey, Ann Marie (Scott) Powers of Santa Barbara, California, Christine (Jon) Martinez of San Diego, California, Theresa (Brad) Keleher of Coal Valley, John (Janet) Martorano of Richmond, California, Joann Martorano of Portland, Oregon, Philip (Mary) Martorano of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Beth (Bryan) Smith of Corralitos, California, Joseph Martorano of Santa Barbara, and Stephen (Lucila) Martorano of Santa Barbara; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, and a son, Jamie Martorano.
