LTC Marvin W. Lassen, US Army (Ret), 94, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, November 1, 2021, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.

Private burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Cremation will take place prior to burial at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Tee Quad Cities or Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Marvin was born October 30, 1927, in Doniphan, Missouri, the son of Roy and Lillie (Myrick) Lassen. He married Bertha Dowd on June 11, 1955, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He served in the United States Army, retiring in 1971 after 25 years of service. After retiring, he worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for 20 years, retiring as Director of Communications.

He was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline, the Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club, Quail Village Golf Club in Naples, Florida, and the Kiwanis Club of Moline. He was an avid golfer who was proud to have a hole-in-one at the age of 83. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Marvin is survived by his beloved wife of over 66 years, Bertha; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley (Ronald) Gusta of Eldridge, Iowa, and Deborah (Neil Ealy) Lassen-Ealy of Moline; three grandchildren, Aaron Michael Gusta, Eva (Matt) Schmid, and Louis “Alex” (Jade) Dondanville; a great-grandson, Bennett Schmid; and extended family, Jeff (Leigh) Gusta and their children, Austin (Callie) Gusta and Aidan Gusta, James (Jennifer) Ealy and their children, Alyssa and Zander, and Tara (Tiffany) Ealy and their children, Bentley and Avery. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Elise Lassen Dondanville; and brothers, Raymond and Luin Lassen.
