Martha M. Hoffmann, 100, of East Moline, Illinois, passed away Monday, October 22, 2012, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2012, at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church, Moline, Illinois, with The Reverend Daniel Iwinski officiating. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lutherans for Life of Illinois, 1266 Perbix Road, Chapin, Illinois 62628. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is in charge of arrangements.
The former Martha Magdelina Peters was born October 7, 1912, in Buffalo, Nebraska, to Heinrich and Marie Gottschalk Peters. She graduated from Milwaukee Lutheran High School, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1931. On October 7, 1934, she married Erwin L. Hoffmann in Faribault, Minnesota.
She worked for the State of Illinois in Springfield; the Illinois Department of Public Aid in Rock Island, Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company, at the Riverside and Rock Island offices, and was employed by International Harvester Farmall Works in Rock Island. She was a member of St. Paul?s Lutheran Church, Moline, and the Ladies Guild of the church.
Martha is survived by three children and their spouses, Gloria and The Rev. G. L. Milbrath of Fort Dodge, Iowa, The Rev. Richard E. Hoffmann of Ballwin, Missouri, and Carol and William Kellenberger of St. Peters, Missouri; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband; brother, The Rev. Martin E. Peters; sisters, Elizabeth Peters and Else Kiekenapp; half-sisters, Martha and Marie Peters; half-brother, Heinrich Peters; and daughter-in-law, Faith Hoffmann.
