Martha L. Cooley

Martha L. Cooley, 91, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Friday, February 10, 2023, at Silver Cross Health and Rehab Center, Rock Island, Illinois.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 17, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Visitation is 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday. Burial is in Bushnell Township Cemetery, Bushnell, Illinois.

The former Martha Louise Vancil was born January 5, 1932, in Greenbush, Illinois, the daughter of Jesse Ernest and Lois (Blansett) Vancil. She married Morris L. Cooley on May 24, 1951, in Bushnell. He died September 11, 1985.

Martha loved camping and hiking with her husband and family. They belonged to the National Campers and Hikers Association, and locally the Fort Armstrong Chapter of the Association. She enjoyed doing crafts and spending time with her family.

Martha is survived by two children and their spouses, Marsha and Rodney Markor of Moline, and Mark and Theresa Cooley of Coal Valley; four grandchildren, Jennifer Hinds, Christopher Rogers, Michelle (Tim) Macki, and Ashley (fiancé Vincent Sabatini) Cooley; two great-grandchildren, Ian Hinds and Autumn Macki; and three siblings, Kenny Vancil of Bushnell, Bernice Wiley of New Jersey, and Bernard Vancil of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two children in infancy; and brothers, James, Lloyd, and Raymond Neil Vancil.
