Marlene DeMarlie, 76, of Danville, Iowa, entered into eternal life on Saturday, January 23, 2016, under hospice care at Lexington Square, Keokuk, Iowa.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016, at First United Methodist Church, 309 N. Main St., Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Prior to services, cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of the Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials may be made to the Danville Library.
Marlene was born May 29, 1939, in Moulton, Iowa, the daughter of Bill and Jean (Carter) Morrison. She was a graduate of Danville High School and later attended several colleges, graduating as a medical assistant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She married Joseph Ferencevich and raised a family together until 1982. She later married Ronald DeMarlie in 1985.
She was a gold jacket member of Century 21 Real Estate and enjoyed working with people of all ages. She later went back to college to teach children of special needs. Volunteering was an important part of her life, and included Boy Scouts, PTA, running for public office, and church. She was very involved with the Danville Library, serving on the board for several years and helping it become a public library with non-profit status.
In her later years, she and her husband resided at the DeMarlie Family Farm in Reynolds, Illinois, before returning to Danville.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Ron; a brother, Gerry Morrison; her children, Allison Weber, Marla (Dan) Race, Kristin (Devin) Finke, Joseph (Jennifer) Ferencevich, Andrew (Jennifer) Ferencevich Sr., and William Ferencevich; ten grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
