Mark A. Senko

Mark A. Senko, veteran Rock Island County prosecutor, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Visitation is 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory. Memorials may be made in Mark's memory to Moline High School for the boys golf program.

Mark Alan Senko was born November 27, 1953, in Moline, the son of Lowell and Rose Joanne (Morthland) Senko. He married Deborah L. Griffin on May 26, 1979, in Moline.

He graduated from Northwestern University, and went on to earn his Juris Doctorate degree from John Marshall Law School in Chicago. He spent 39 years working in the Rock Island County State's Attorney's office, serving as interim state's attorney in 2011. After retiring in December of 2016, he worked for Mills Chevrolet as a driver.

Mark coached, and was active in, the Moline Basketball Association and the East Moline Little League. He enjoyed golfing, and was an avid trivia player on several teams. He enjoyed traveling with his family, spending many vacations out west and the Atlantic Ocean.

Mark is survived by his wife, Deb of Moline; two sons, Christopher Senko of Moline, and Matthew (Angie) Senko of Fort Wayne, Indiana; his mother, Joanne Senko of Silvis, Illinois; a sister, Lori Swank of Moline; a brother-in-law, John B. (Diane Soady-Griffin) Griffin of Colorado; nieces and nephews, Victoria (Joey) Lastinger, Brenton Swank, Brooke (Yuri) Hurdt, Kayla (Joel) Schnierle, and Lauren (Eddie) Griffin; and great-nieces, Brianna, McHaly, Georgia, and Mikaela Victoria. He was preceded in death by his father, Lowell Senko; and his in-laws, John E. and Kathlein C. Griffin.
