Marjorie L. Koch

Marjorie L. Koch, 88, of Rock Island, Illinois, formerly of Preston, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 23, 2016, in Friendship Manor, Rock Island.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Preston, Iowa, with The Reverend Larry Conway officiating. Burial is in Preston Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, and one hour before services at the church on Monday. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Preston, or Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline.

The former Marjorie Lola Maltas was born April 22, 1928, in Reliance, South Dakota, to Thomas and Mary Ruchotzke Maltas. She married Donald Koch on June 29, 1947, in Preston. She owned and operated Margie's Beauty Shop in Preston for several years. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years, and was a member of the Iowa Hairdresser Associations, and the American Legion Auxiliary in Preston. She and Don hosted seven foreign exchange students, and enjoyed traveling to visit them.

Marjorie is survived by beloved her husband of 69 years, Donald; three children and their spouses, Michael Koch and Thomas Coppess of Moline, Denise and Robert Downey of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Lori and Robb Ketelsen of Osco, Illinois; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Lance Koch, Matthew and Sarah Downey, Megan and Kevin Nagel, Mitchell and Jillian Downey, Rylie and Sheldon Miller, Casey and Megan Ketelsen, and Cody and Emily Ketelsen; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
