East Moline, Illinois
Marjorie "Grams/Sunshine" Hoskins, 88, of East Moline, Illinois, was called home to Heaven on Monday, October 20, 2014, at her daughter and son-in-law's home, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, 1201 13th Street, Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, 701 12th Street, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.
The former Marjorie Mae Wade was born January 5, 1926, in Tipton, Iowa, the daughter of William Llewelyn and Dora Mae (Eiselstein) Wade.
Marge had a strong work ethic and took pride in hard work. She worked at Blackhawk College as a custodian for 21 years. Before that, she served the City of Moline as a meter maid, and baked desserts for students in the Moline School District.
Grams was a selfless servant of God, always putting the needs of others before her own. She inspired us through her courage and strength, even as she faced adversity and illness. Grams lived her faith, putting God and family above all else. She immersed herself in family, of whom she was very proud. She believed in, loved, and supported all of us!
She taught us fine lessons of obedience and modeled her "sunshiny" personality through her smile and her uplifting attitude… always positive! She was an avid Cubs' fan - "Maybe next year!" Grams presence will be missed in our lives: on family vacations and daily trips to The Coffee Hound.
She loved her church family and was so appreciative of every Sunday she was able to go to church and sing those good ‘ole Methodist hymns. She had a profound impact on many generations of friends, developing a close bond with many of her daughters' and grandchildren's friends. Even through her surgeries and illness, she inspired and deeply impacted those around her.
We will take Grams with us wherever we go because she lives in all of our hearts. She has flown away to be with Jesus. She is free, whole, happy and home. She lived her life by this motto: Every day is a good day!
Survivors include daughters and a son-in-law, Dixie Mae Wilson of Moline, and M. Dawn and Joe Ramos of East Moline; grandchildren, Mark, Tim (Shayla), Tiffany (Shaun) Denys; great-grandchildren, Kayden and Isabella; and a sister, Winifred Boettcher of Davenport, Iowa. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
