Marilyn K. Gibbs, 66, of Carbon Cliff, Illinois, died Monday, May 19, 2014, in her home.

Private services have taken place at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross or the Animal Aid Humane Society, Moline. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, assisted the family.

Marilyn Kay Gibbs was born September 11, 1947, in Moberly, Missouri, the daughter of Forrest Odell and Lola Winifred (Crow) Gibbs. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from Illinois State, followed by her Master's Degree from Western Illinois University in 1980.

She was a 1st Grade teacher at Washington Elementary and Willard Grade School in Moline for over 32 years, retiring in 2003.

Marilyn was a generous, sensitive, and warm person, who was passionate about teaching and her students, winning several awards. She was a great St. Louis Cardinals fan, and loved animals, donating to numerous charities over the years.

She is survived by her brother, Larry Gibbs of Crete, Illinois, and many cousins and their families, including Rosemary Cook of Viola, Illinois.
