Marilyn Elaine Munson, 78, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Friday, June 10, 2005, in her home after a broken hip and an extended illness.
Private graveside services will be held Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island, with The Right Reverend Edward MacBurney officiating. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society or Quad City Symphony.
The former Marilyn Elaine Anderson was born August 30, 1926, in Rock Island, Illinois, the daughter of Willard and Helen (Anderson) Anderson. She graduated from the University of Illinois and married Charles J. Munson in 1951. He died April 20, 2000.
Marilyn was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Davenport, Crow Valley Golf Club, and a former member of the Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club, The Outing Club, and the former Davenport Club. She served as a Trustee on the Quad City Symphony Board for 43 years., performed in Playcrafters Productions, and was a member of the Gallery Guild of the Davenport Museum of Art. She volunteered for C.A.S.I. and the Handicapped Development Center.
In the early 1950?s, Marilyn hosted a weekly television show for Healey Eckman Home Furnishings on WOC. She was also a member of the panel on WOC?s ?If You Ask Me.?
Marilyn is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mindy and David Faulkner of Louisville, Kentucky; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles J. and Kathy Munson of Paradise Valley, Arizona; and three grandchildren, Dana Munson, Elly Anderson Faulkner, and Leece Faulkner.
