Marilyn J. Benson, 87, of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, March 6, 2025, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.
A hospitality gathering to celebrate Marilyn’s life, complete with food and drinks, will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 14, at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe (Lower Level), 701 12th Street, Moline. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Private burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery.
The former Marilyn Jean Dunlap was born October 10, 1937, in Bloomington, Illinois, the daughter of Oscar and Sylvia (Hall) Dunlap. She married Larry Earl Benson. The couple enjoyed many motorcycle trips around the country together, and also loved camping and snowmobiling. He passed away July 24, 2015.
Above all else, family was the most important thing to Marilyn. She especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marilyn is survived by her son-in-law, Jerry (Victoria Regginello) Walker of Silvis, Illinois; three grandchildren, Nathan (Kayla Willis) Zahringer, Nicole Walker, Dan Walker; great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Myles and Paisley Zahringer, Brenton Arrington, Khloe Norris, Jericho Walker, Jase Bray, and Anabella, Matthew and Luke Walker; siblings, Pat Wassenhove of Coal Valley, Diane Butcher of Moline, and Roger Dunlap of Arizona; and a daughter, Julie (Darrell) Dorges. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry Benson; her daughter, Jeanne Walker; and five siblings.
