Marie Dunbar, 98, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Friday, December 28, 2018, in her home.
Services are 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3, at Trimble Funeral Home, 1700 1st Street, Coal Valley, with visitation one hour before the service. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospitals.
The former Rowena Marie Fralick was born January 16, 1920, in Princeton, Kentucky, to Hugh and Tula (Terry) Fralick. She married Owen Dunbar in 1939, in Princeton. He died in 2003. She was secretary for the Lincoln Park, Michigan, Board of Education. She was a member of the Dix Methodist Church, Lincoln Park, and was a "good Southern cook" who was known for her fried chicken. She was a seamstress and enjoyed sewing and reading Bible scripture.
Marie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Pamela Dunbar, with whom she had resided since moving to Coal Valley in 2005; four grandchildren, Amber Alexander, Lorna Leathers and her husband Landon, Barry Dunbar, and Karla Young; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, sisters, Dorothy Fielder and Pauline Bruce, and brothers, Hugh Jr. and J. T. Fralick.
