Maria Caras, 60, of Moline, Illinois, passed away on July 11, 2017, at home.
Services are 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, with Father Donald Levitt officiating. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Visitation is 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Maria's memory.
She was born September 4, 1956, in the Philippines, the daughter of Ernie and Amparo (Chua) Caras. She married Sam Till on December 16, 2002, in Rock Island, Illinois. She received her B.A. from Western Illinois before going on to work at John Deere as a specifications analyst.
Maria loved spending time with her family and was known as their protector. She especially cherished the time with Eli, her grandson.
Maria was very artistic. She loved working on her flower gardens and could make any plant grow. In Maria's spare time she enjoyed taking walks with her husband, working on house projects, traveling and observing nature's wonder and beauty.
Left to cherish memories of Maria's are her loving husband, Sam; two children, Megan Hoyt of Moline, and James Hoyt of Silvis; a grandson, Eli Austin; Sam's children, Krystal (Zach) Baker of Arizona, Kendra Till of Australia, and Danny Till of Charleston, South Carolina; Sam's grandchildren, Samuel and Savannah Baker; brothers, Ed (Ofelia) Caras of Stockton, California, Ernie Jr. (Kelly) Caras of Moline, Napol (Alma) Caras of Viola, and Mike Caras of Ada, Oklahoma; sisters, Florence (Greg) Bryan of Indianapolis, Indiana, Lisa (Scott) Appelquist of Orlando, Florida, and Arcie McCabe of Daytona, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to thank Hospice Compassus, particularly Angie, for the wonderful care they gave to Maria. In addition, Maria was blessed to have Marie, Ramon, Mhier, Kim and John as kind and gentle caregivers in the last years of her life.
