Margarete Goetz, 90, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2019, at Clariussa C. Cook, Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory,Moline, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Services and burial will be held at a later time in Arlington National Cemetery.
Margarete Fischer was a native of Hattersheim, Germany. She married an American soldier, William E. Goetz, and emigrated to the United States in 1953, where she was employed as a bookkeeper in Washington, D.C., first for a bakery and then for a number of years at her beloved Davidge and Co. investment firm. After retirement, she lived for a time in Baltimore, Maryland, Brandon, Florida and Roanoke, Virginia, before settling in Bettendorf, Iowa in 2006. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pleasant Valley and also attended St. Paul Lutheran.
Margarete is survived by her brother Willhelm, Stuttgart, Germany, by her children: Heidi Claudy (Frank), Ingrid Porter, and William Eric Goetz (Ruth Ann); her grandchildren: Maggie Lynn and Adam Claudy, Teona and Julia Goetz; and two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Oliver Teeravechyan.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Genesis Medical Center, her cardiologist Dr. Coyne and her primary care giver, Dr. Daniel, for providing excellent and compassionate care. Special thanks also to the staff at Clarissa Cook Hospice House for making her last days so comfortable, and to the St. Paul pastors who called on her in the hospital and at the hospice house.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy be made in the form of charitable contributions to Genesis Medical Center, Clarissa Cook Hospice, St. Paul Lutheran Church or the ASPCA. Condolences may be shared at CremationQC.com.
