Madelyn I. Williams, 96, of Moline, Illinois, died Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at her residence.
Graveside services are 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Oakwood Cemetery, Macomb, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, is entrusted with arrangements.
The former Madelyn Ione Haines was born November 24, 1921, in Colchester, Illinois, the daughter of Walter and Irene (Thrap) Haines. She married Richard Ray Williams on June 14, 1941, in Macomb. He died January 26, 1983.
Prior to the war, she worked for Seaford Clothing in Rock Island. She then worked over 25 years for the Rock Island Arsenal as a supervisor in the payroll department.
Madelyn was a 50-plus year member of Bethany Baptist Church, Moline. She enjoyed crafts, camping and traveling, especially to San Benito, Texas, in the winters.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Williams of Moline; grandchildren, Lon (Brenda) Dryoel of Milan, Kris (Sam) Davis of Rock Island, and Darrin Williams of Arkansas; great-grandchildren, Kailey Lynn Williams, Michael (Amy) Mealman, Rebecca (Cris) Alleruzzo, and Jessica (Ryan) Hestand; great-great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Hannah Jacks, Emersyn Mealman, Nico and Giovanni Alleruzzo, and Katelyn Nelson; siblings, Elden (Darlene) Haines of East Moline, Leonard (Shirley) Haines, and Wendell Haines, both of Colchester, Evelyn (Ben) Rockwell of Tampa, Florida, and Naomi Creasey of Enterprise, Alabama; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, R. Kent Williams, and baby Wayne Lowell Williams; and brothers, Eugene, Herschel, Donald, Dean, and Ronnie.
