Madeline M. Sievers, 94, of Milan, Illinois, died Wednesday, November 14, 2007, in Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Services are 3:00 p.m. Saturday, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan, with the Reverend Gregory Michel officiating. Visitation is 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the church. Private family burial will take place Monday. Memorials may be made to the church. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, is assisting the family.
The former Madeline Marie Nightingale was born March 9, 1913, in Coal Valley, Illinois, the daughter of Henry and Nellie (Kraklow) Nightingale. She married John Sievers on November 11, 1931, in Coal Valley. He died January 27, 1991.
Madeline and her husband were charter members of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan. She was a member of the Lutheran Women?s Missionary League, St. Matthew Sewing Circle, Altar Guild, and numerous Bible study groups. She was also a vacation Bible school teacher. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, and was a wonderful cook.
Madeline is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and John Miles of Milan; grandchildren, Mark and Esther Anders of Westland, Michigan, Matthew and Susan Anders of Rock Island, Michael and Debra Anderson of Colleyville, Texas, and Susan Anderson of Eagle River, Alaska; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Engstrom of Coal Valley; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Joan Bleuer, brothers, John, William, and Carl Nightingale, and sisters, Helen Topher, Edna DeBaillie, and Dorothy Willhouse.
