Hohenboken, 90, of East Moline, formerly of Moline and Geneseo, died Monday, June 11, 2001, in Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. The Rev. Dr. Robert Miller will officiate. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family will also greet friends in Geneseo following the burial at a location to be announced at the service. Memorials may be made to First Congregational Church, Moline, Shriner's Children's Hospitals, or St. Jude Children's Hospital. The former Mabel Eula Kirkpatrick was born July 24, 1910, in Nichols, Iowa, the daughter of W. John and Anna (McCabe) Kirkpatrick. She graduated from the University of Illinois in 1933, and married Arleigh K. Hohenboken on June 29, 1933, in Muscatine, Iowa. She was a member of First Congregational Church, Moline, the President's Council of the University of Illinois, and member of the former Mary Martha Guild of the church, Semper Fidelis Circle of Kings' Daughters, and AK Chapter of TTT. She loved gardening and flowers. Mabel is survived by her husband, Arleigh; a son and two daughters-in-law, William and Lynda Hohenboken of Blacksberg, Virginia, and Shona Robinson of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia; three grandchildren, Steven Hohenboken of New York City, and Angus and Emily Hohenboken of Hobart; and a sister, Helen Corbett of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was preceded in death by two sons, Jay T. Hohenboken and George "Tim" Hohenboken, her parents, four brothers, and three sisters.
