Helen M. Marchant, 97, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, October 8, 2009, in Blue Ridge Christian Home, Fairfield, Virginia.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at All Saints Episcopal Church, 2420 41st Street, Moline, with The Reverend James E. Allemeier officiating. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Estate Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to Trinity Foundation for the Burn Unit.
The former Helen Margaret Kelly was born May 16, 1912, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Harold and Maude Gard Kelly. She married Robert L. Marchant on July 29, 1935, in Denver, Colorado. He died May 19, 1986.
Helen was a long time member of Christ Episcopal Church, Moline, and a former member of Episcopal Church Women, Rock Island County Homemakers Association, and Izaac Walton League of America. She enjoyed bowling, golf, and gardening.
Helen is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, R. Dennis and Karen Marchant of Buena Vista, Virginia; two grandchildren, Scott Marchant and his wife Donna Fowler-Marchant, and Kristine Marchant and her husband Jeremiah Marchant; and three great-grandchildren, Sergei, Natasha, and Campbell Marchant. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Paul Marchant who was killed in the Vietnam War; brothers, Marshall and Richard Kelly; and a sister, Marian Inman.
