Hazel M. Hessler, 84, of Moline, Illinois, died Tuesday, December 9, 2008, in Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island, Illinois.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with The Reverend David Schultz officiating. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery on Arsenal Island. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to In Touch Adult Day Care Center.
The former Hazel Marie Morris was born February 14, 1924, in Little York, Illinois, the daughter of Alfred and Effie (Goff) Morris. She married R. J. Hessler on July 30, 1942, in Lawton, Oklahoma. He died February 4, 2007. She was employed at National Tea Company, Moline, for 16 years retiring in 1976.
She was a member of Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and the Retail Clerks Union. She enjoyed homemaking and canning, and loved spending time with her family.
Hazel is survived by a son, Curtis Hessler and his wife Kerrie of Orion, Illinois; a daughter, Cheryl Hamilton-Jackson and her husband Dan Jackson of Moline; five grandchildren, Christopher Hamilton, Megan Hamilton, Patrick Hessler and his wife Julie, Nicholas Hessler and his wife Krissy, and Shaun Hessler; four great-grandchildren, Caden, Caylie, and Cael Hessler and Sadie Hessler; and a brother, Paul Morris of Galesburg, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, Jennie Black, and brothers, Les, Earl, Ray, John and Harold Morris.
